This is the perfect package for those working with Windows XP who want to upgrade their home-screen interface without upgrading their whole operating system. Transform XP to Vista includes various free updates to mimic the Vista layout, providing an aesthetic refresh and the usability bonus of displaying your entire program list with one click.

Combining Yahoo Widgets, Microsoft’s Vista Theme for XP, and OrdinarySoft’s own Vista Start Menu, this is a bug-free package aimed to run smoothly in your system’s background. It’s a great way to liven up the standard XP home-screen with a few, carefully chosen updates to emulate the Vista look.

Don’t be put off by the infamous Vista name-tag, this package really does liven up the boring XP home-screen and provide a little usability bonus at the same time to. The package might only contain 3 visual updates for XP, but these are all great additions. Though, as you might expect, the own-brand Vista Start Menu is the weak link compared to contributions from Microsoft and Yahoo. The new start menu is a little clunky and a little over-branded for our tastes.

Pro’s: Free and easy to install, definite improvement on XP’s layout.

Con’s: Start menu clumsily branded, package contents already available for separate download.

Conclusion:  Still, this is a great package and with a free price tag, it’s a bargain too. Take note though - the individual programs in this package are all still available for free individual download. The package adds nothing but the convenience of a single download.
